A glowing power coil from a UFO transports the Joes and Cobras into ancient Greece via time-warp. The Joes and Cobras battle for possession of this "Golden Fleece," establishing many ancient legends among the ancient locals before they can figure out how to return to their own time.

For the first time in the series, Lifeline, a pacifist who would not touch a gun to save himself during "Cobrathon," is seen carrying a gun while exiting a cave.

When King Augeas challenged Sgt. Slaughter to clean his stable in one day, the Joe recognized the task as one of "the Labors of Hercules." Below is a list of the eleven other Labors submitted by King Eurystheus to Hercules according to Edith Hamilton's book Mythology:
1. Kill the lion of Nemea, who could not be killed with a weapon
2. Kill the Hydra, a nine-headed creature
3. Deliver a stag with golden horns
4. Capture a great boar on Mount Erymanthus
5. Drive away every bird plaguing the city of Stymphalian
6. Travel to Crete and fetch a savage bull given to Minos by Poseidon
7. Slay the man-eating mares of King Diomedes
8. Steal the girdle of Hippolyta, the Queen of the Amazons
9. Steal the cattle of Geryon, who was a monster with three bodies
10. Bring back the Golden Apples of Hesperides
11. Capture Cerebus, the three-head dog who lived in Hades

The number 99 on the USS Flagg appears backwards two times in the episode. Also, in the second shot, the animation cel may have been flipped by accident since the USS Flagg would appear perfectly if the cel was reversed.

The Baroness was missing her gloves during two scenes.

Sgt. Slaughter should not have been included in the cave since he would later appear with reinforcements to help the Joes against Cobra on a beach.

Lady Jaye's green gloves were not included.

Gloves, which are not part of Leatherneck's character design, suddenly appeared on the Joe's hands from one shot to the next.

Rather than blaming someone else for your mistake, Flint recommends that you take responsibility for your own actions.
