Home Episode Summaries Miniseries G.I.Joe: The Revenge of Cobra - The Vines of Evil
"Now, you wanna pay my fee and get out of here or hang around and pray for urban renewal?"
- Shipwreck (after Flint and Mutt clobber some thugs in a Cobra Cafe)
The storm around the Pit of Chaos ends and the vines wither in the sun.
Roadblock stands up and opens his arms to the sunlight before climbing
out of the the very deep pit.
Destro begins the attack on Washington DC with a tornado followed by
giant hail stones. And as the mirrors are smashed by the hail and the Joes'
vehicles that are tossed by the wind, Cobra Commander laughs in with an
insane glee in his voice.
Flint, Mutt and Junkyard enter a Cobra Cafe in a desert and are quickly
targeted by a group of thugs because the Joes have two guns, which are
just the weapons the gang needs, according to the leader. Like a saloon
fight scene from an Old West film, the piano player continues to play non-stop
as the Mutt and Flint pound the gang members. From a corner table near
the piano player, a man reading a newspaper asks the Joes, "You don't live
around here, do you?"
The man in the sailor suit introduces himself as Shipwreck and offers
to take the Joes anywhere they want if they can meet his fee or they can
"hang around and hope for urban renewal." Flint and Mutt look at one another
and wonder if they should trust Shipwreck but Junkyard jumps onto Shipwreck's
lap and licks his face. Flint chuckles and tells Shipwreck that if Junkyard
thinks he is okay then he is okay in their books, too. Shipwreck scratches
Junkyard's head and thanks him.
After Cobra Commander discovers that the Joes have survived he orders
Destro to use the full power of the weather dominator to create a massive
lightning storm. But the bolts strike the energy mirrors and the Joes reflect
the energy and redirect it back to Cobra Temple, causing each of the three
integral pieces of the weather dominator to launch into space, break apart
and land in a different part of the globe.
Shipwreck escorts his new customers to his air-sled and tells the Joes
that the one thing Cobra's sensor can't detect is air power. After Shipwreck
tells the Joes that with luck they will have a nice boring voyage, Mutt
points to an incoming sandstorm. The mast breaks and Mutt tumbles overboard.
