"No, but don't worry. I'm wearing my asbestos underwear."
- Doc (to Blowtorch, who asked if Doc was certain the energy mirror would work)

Catching sight of his friend being attacked by the vines, Roadblock hacks his way to Flint and frees him from the vines. Noting that the vines are dying at one end of the pit, the two Joes slash through the "homicidal salad bowl" toward the heat generated by Mutt's Skystriker propulsion system. As soon as all of the Joes are reunited, they immediately begin to work on a machine to fly them out of the pit.

In Cobra Temple, Cobra Commander welcomes Duke and Snake Eyes to the new Arena of Sport, where ankle braces are attached and a neuro-disrupter takes over the motor functions of the Joes. But Duke and Snake Eyes resist the mind control. As they pretend to fight to the death, they overhear Destro, Cobra Commander and Zartan talking about the weather dominator's next target: Washington, D.C. Snake Eyes suggests using his utility belt communicator and an energy pole in the arena to send a message to Joe headquarters. Catching Duke's sword between the forks of his weapon, Snake Eyes launches the sword and strikes the antennae. Using a communicator attached to his belt, Snake Eyes taps a message in Joe Code to headquarters about the next attack.

As Duke and Snake Eyes are overwhelmed by the number Cobra agents and taken away, Zartan tells the Cobra Commander that he is sure the Joes sent out a signal. "Sssso much the better," replies Cobra Commander, in a hissing voice. He explains that the Joes are still helpless against the weather dominator.

Col. Sharpe explains to Scarlett that the evacuation is still proceeding but they still don't know when Cobra will attack. After Col. Sharpe signs off, Scarlett is told by Clutch that Doc may have a defense against the weather dominator: an energy mirror. The mirror absorbs, reflects and redirects energy. Just before Blowtorch begins the demonstration with the aid of his flamethrower, he asks Doc if he is sure that the mirror will work. "No, but don't worry. I'm wearing my asbestos underwear." The experiment is a success and the Joes take turns declaring Doc a genius. With the energy mirrors loaded on the Joe vehicles, the team shouts in unison "Yo Joe" and travels to D.C.

Flint, Roadblock, Mutt and Junkyard finish building their make-shift helicopter, and moments before they fly away Roadblock is caught by the vines. Mutt offers his hand to help Roadblock and refuses to realize they are stuck in a stand-off. Roadblock tells Mutt that the vines will pull all of them down.

Roadblock lets go of the helicopter and falls back into the pit filled with the killer vines so that his friends can escape. After flying over two Cobra troops, Flint, Mutt and Junkyard crash and with Junkyard's help they knock out the two Cobra troops and steal their Stinger jeep and uniforms.

As Destro advises Cobra Commander to not use the full power of the weather dominator on Washington D.C., Zartan infuriates Destro by questioning his opinion. Cobra Commander chooses Zartan's stance of full power against Washington, but to get even with Zartan, Destro widens the iris that opens so that the weather dominator open can be fired. The sunlight causes Zartan great pain and Destro laughs at Zartan's misery as the iris closes.
