Cobra’s going to pay for this.

Home Toy Commercial Animation Cobra Maggot & G.I.Joe Persuader (1987)

The decrease in funding becomes very apparent in this five second animation sequence, which features with the G.I.Joe Persuader amid several explosions.
During the live-action scenes, the Cobra Maggot's battle station section is separated by lifting the piece off of the command center and swinging down four support legs. However, the transformation process is not mirrored in the animation sequence, which shows the command center driving out of the the battle station, a scene which is almost hidden by an explosion behind the Maggot.

Depicted in a style reminiscent of Frank Miller's Sin City comic book series, the shot of the Persuader continuing to press its attack is one of the more unusual shots in Sunbow's G.I.Joe animation history. Was Sunbow starting to feel crunched due to the limited amount of time allocated for commercial animation or was the black and white shot an experiment in design?
